Mind Over Matter

There is no doubt in my mind that the power of positive thinking has more impact on our health and our overall life experiences than is even understood. I have always believed negativity to be a sapper of energy, but I think it is even more important to focus on the power of being positive!

John’s optimism through pretty much all things is constantly evident in my life. His ability to breeze through health ordeals, surgeries, recovery, etc. is unbelievable. He has had three knee replacement surgeries and all three times left healthcare providers amazed by his recovery, his progress and his positive outlook.

His positive spirit encourages those around him, has a healing element for those he “infects” and can turn my worst day into my best day just by breathing life back into it.

Can you become this person not only for those around you, but for yourself? One of my favorite sayings is “You become what you think about.” What self-talk to you participate in on a regular basis? What kind of energy are you pouring into those around you? What would happen to your situation if you chose to shift your mindset to one of optimism instead of defeat?

I encourage you to make a commitment to yourself to create a positive realm in which to live this year. Find a phrase, or a word – a mantra, so to speak – that you can say to yourself every time you catch yourself falling back into negativity. Surround yourself with positive outlets. Only read, watch or listen to material that builds you up and strengthens your mindset. Only surround yourself with people that share a positive outlook. Take the time to treat yourself to the things that bring you joy. Try it for 30 days. Then tell me if it made a difference.

Let’s not only feed our body in a healthier way this year, let’s feed our minds healthily as well. Then, let’s see just how far we can fly.
